Like the previous limited edition, Batch 128, this new, one-off release was matured in tiny 100-litre first-fill bourbon casks. These high quality, experimental casks were believed to have been made for Kentucky’s Buffalo Trace, but the cost involved was eventually deemed too high to continue using them. That’s when Wolfburn stepped in. These rare casks have imparted a magnificent depth of flavour to the spirit that has aged in them, not to mention the perception of additional age. The spirit was produced from Concerto barley from the Black Isle (a renowned growing region near Inverness) and Batch 270 differs from Batch 128 only in that the spirit is unpeated.
