Wolfburn has released a numbered small-batch bottling once every year, and 458 marks the seventh release since May 2017. The name comes from where these barrels were matured, and so in this case, it’s warehouse 4, stow 58. This series has demonstrated Wolfburn’s skills at snaffling some mighty good casks over the years, from 100L first-fill Bourbon casks originally destined for Buffalo Trace or Woodford Reserve, first- and second-fill Oloroso Sherry hogsheads and first-fill Madeira barrels. This release is the first to have a component matured in first-fill Pedro Ximénez butts, combined with a lightly peated spirit matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels.
